Each work sample collection demonstrates evidence of student learning in relation to aspects of the achievement standards for a subject and/or a learning area. Each collection comprises a selection of student work drawn from a range of activities or tasks. The collections have been selected, annotated and reviewed by classroom teachers and other curriculum experts. ACARA acknowledges the contribution of Australian teachers in the development of these work sample collections.
The primary purpose for the work sample is to demonstrate the standard, so the focus is on what is evident in the sample not how it was created. This means the length of time taken to complete a task or the degree of support provided by a teacher is not provided with the work sample.
There is no predetermined number of student work samples in a collection, and they may not address every aspect of the achievement standard. The collections do comprise authentic samples of student work and may contain errors such as spelling mistakes and other inaccuracies. Opinions expressed in student work are those of the student.
Work samples are published in an ongoing process, please see the work sample summary document for an overview of what is currently available by learning area and subject
