WS01 - Mein haus (My house)

Languages, German, Years 7 and 8

By the end of Year 8, students initiate and maintain interactions in German language in familiar and some unfamiliar contexts related to a range of interests and experiences. They use German to collaborate and problem-solve, and adjust language in response to others. They interpret information, ideas and opinions in texts. They demonstrate understanding of similarities and differences between languages, in both familiar and some unfamiliar cultural contexts, by adjusting and reorganising responses. They select and use vocabulary, sentence structures and expressions to create texts. 

 

Students apply the conventions of spoken German to develop fluency. They demonstrate understanding that spoken, written and multimodal texts use different language conventions, structures and features to convey meaning. They comment on structures and features of German text, using metalanguage. They reflect on how the German language, culture and identity are interconnected, and compare this with their own language(s), culture(s) and identity.

[Teacher] Hallo, ich möchte einen Hausaustausch in Australien machen, aber das Haus muss geeignet sein. Darf ich dir ein paar Fragen stellen? Wie ist dein Haus?

 

[Student] Hier ist mein Haus. Es ist sechs Quadratmeter. Ich wohne in einem großen, dreistöckigen Haus.

 

[Teacher] Gibt es in deinem Haus ein Badezimmer?

 

[Student] Ja, das Badezimmer ist zwölf Quadratmeter.

 

[Teacher] Gibt es in deinem Haus ein Esszimmer?

 

[Student] Ja, das Esszimmer ist 15 Quadratmeter.

 

[Teacher] Gibt es in deinem Haus eine Waschküche?

 

[Student] Ja, die Waschküche ist zehn Quadratmeter.

 

[Teacher] Was ist größer,das Badezimmer oder das Esszimmer?

 

[Student] Das Esszimmer ist größer als das Badezimmer.

 

[Teacher] Was ist kleiner, die Toilette oder die Waschküche?

 

[Student] Die Toilette ist kleiner als die … Wie bitte?

[Student] Mein Lieblingsraum ist das Wohnzimmer, weil es ein großes schwarzes, Sofa und Fernseher hat.

 

[Teacher] Wie oft musst du kochen?

 

[Student] Ich koche nicht.

 

[Teacher] Wie oft musst du abwaschen?

 

[Student] Ich muss sieben Mal pro Woche abwaschen.

 

[Teacher] Was ist besser, abwaschen oder abtrocknen?

 

[Student] Abtrocknen ist besser als abwaschen.

 

[Teacher] Sind die Häuser in Deutschland größer oder kleiner?

 

[Student] Die Häuser in Deutschland sind kleiner, weil Deutschland kleiner ist als Australien und dort weniger Platz ist.
